2026 Ram 3500 Maintenance Schedule: Heavy Duty Requires Heavy Maintenance
The 2026 Ram 3500 is the strongest truck on the road, but that strength comes with complexity. If you opted for the High-Output Cummins with the Aisin AS69RC transmission or a Dual Rear Wheel (Dually) setup, your maintenance schedule is different from a standard 2500.
At Champion CDJR Gulfport, our HD technicians are certified to work on these commercial-grade components. Here is what you need to know to keep your rig on the road for 300,000+ miles.
The Aisin Transmission Service Rule
The Aisin AS69RC is a $12,000 commercial transmission. It is bulletproof, but only if you service it. Unlike the lighter 68RFE, the Aisin requires a strict fluid and filter change schedule.
Interval: Every 30,000 miles.
The Service: Drain and refill with Mopar® ASRC Automatic Transmission Fluid.
Warning: Do NOT use standard ATF+4 fluid. It will ruin the clutch packs.
The Filter: The Aisin has a sump filter that must be replaced.
Why so frequent? This transmission is designed for constant heavy towing. The fluid breaks down faster under the extreme heat of hauling 30,000+ lbs.

Dually (DRW) Tire Rotation
If you drive a "Dually," you cannot just rotate tires front-to-back like a normal car. The inner and outer rear wheels are steel and aluminum, respectively, and have specific offsets.
Rotation Pattern:
- Fronts go to the Rear Outer (requires dismounting if wheels are different materials).
- Rear Outers go to the Front.
- Rear Inners stay in the rear but swap sides (Left to Right).
Champion Tip: Because dismounting tires is expensive, many dually owners simply swap "side-to-side" every 6,000 miles to prevent cupping.

Cummins High-Output Maintenance
The engine itself follows the standard diesel schedule, but the loads you carry put more stress on the fluids.
Grease Those Joints!
Unlike the Ram 1500 which has "sealed for life" front end parts, the Ram 3500 4x4 still has a grease fitting on the front driveshaft cardan joint.
● Action: It must be greased at every oil change.
● Result of Ignoring: The joint dries out, seizes, and can snap the driveshaft while driving on the highway.
