2026 Ram 1500 RHO Maintenance Schedule
The 2026 Ram 1500 RHO is not a standard work truck. It is a high-performance machine powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.0L Hurricane High-Output (H/O) engine. Because this engine produces 540 horsepower from a smaller displacement than the old V8, it operates under higher pressures and temperatures.
Following the manufacturer’s strict maintenance schedule is critical to ensuring long-term reliability and preserving your warranty.
At Champion CDJR Gulfport, our Mopar® certified technicians are specifically trained on the unique cooling and lubrication needs of the Hurricane H/O engine.
The Critical Break-In Period
The first 1,500 miles are the most important miles your RHO will ever drive. Ignoring these rules can lead to premature engine wear or differential issues.
- 0 to 100 Miles: Avoid sudden stops (unless emergency). This lets the brake pads seat properly.
- 0 to 500 Miles:
- Do NOT exceed 50 mph if possible (highway driving is okay, but vary your speed).
- Do NOT tow a trailer.
- Do NOT use full-throttle starts (launch control).
- 500 to 1,500 Miles: You can tow and drive at highway speeds, but keep engine RPMs below 5,000 for sustained periods.
Official Maintenance Schedule (Hurricane H/O)
Unlike older V8s that could tolerate neglect, the twin-turbo system requires clean, high-quality synthetic oil to lubricate the turbo bearings.
Why "Severe Duty" Matters in Gulfport
Most drivers in Mississippi fall under the "Severe Duty" schedule without realizing it. You are considered a Severe Duty driver if you:
- Idle frequently (traffic or job sites).
- Tow heavy trailers or boats.
- Drive in hot weather (over 90°F) – This is basically all of us in summer.
- Drive in dusty conditions (off-road).
Champion Tip: If you fit this category, we recommend changing your oil every 5,000 miles instead of waiting for the oil life monitor.
